Parents’ Newsletter
April 2013
Dear Parents,
Please read through the following information carefully.
Parents as Partners
As you will all know, parent folders are given to you once every month for a week. This is for you to write down anything that you observe your child do that demonstrates their development. However, we have noticed that there are a number of parent folders which have not been brought back to nursery. We urge parents to bring back the folders at least 1 week after it has been given. If you do not wish to take home the folders, you can hand it back over to a member of staff so they can put it back into the box. We don’t want you to feel that it is compulsory.
Opening hours
This is just a reminder that nursery opens at 7:30am and closes at 6:30pm. Children are not insured to be at nursery before 7:30am and after 6:30pm. Staffs that are on a 7:30am shift usually come in early to set up and have their morning cup of tea before children start arriving. Please do not get offended if you are not let in before 7:30am. Please understand that it can be a little bit awkward for staff when they ask parents to stay until 7:30am, if they do get let in.
The late fees still stand as £1 per minute. It is to my understanding that there are times were it cannot be helped because of traffic. However, I find myself in a difficult position because the majority of children manage to be picked up on time which will make it unfair to not charge those who are late. The majority of the staff takes public transport in which if they miss their bus, they have a long wait till the next one and end up getting home very late.
Although it may be hard at times but please leave enough time to pick up your children from nursery. Thank you =)
Clothing
I would like to take this section of your newsletter to just express how proud I am of all the children that are currently potty training and who are now potty trained! Working as a team (parents and staff) has defiantly shown success through your children.
Please remember to continue to provide comfortable/loose clothing for your children and to ensure that if wet clothing has been sent home to bring back clean clothing so we keep the consistency of 2 pairs of clothing.
Children’s Hospice Week
Children’s Hospice Week will be between 26th April and 3rd May 2013. This week is the UK’s only awareness and fundraising week for children with life limiting/threatening conditions. Richard House Children’s Hospice is our local hospice so we have decided to mark the end of the awareness week with a Superhero Friday! Children are able to dress as a superhero or as whatever character that they like best to nursery and make a £1 donation or more to Richard House to help children and families make the most of their precious time together. This event will happen on Friday 3rd May 2013
E-Newsletters
During last week most parents were asked weather they liked the idea if receiving newsletters by e-mail to promote a green environment. The majority of parents said they would not mind receiving newsletters by e-mail and a few parents would prefer to be given a hard copy – which is not a problem.
Please fill out the slip below stating your child’s name and your email address, then, if you could kindly please hand it over to a member of staff so that we can start sending the newsletters to those who would prefer this option every month.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to ask a member of staff.
Yours Sincerely
Pamela Olumoya
Acting Nursery Manager
